Australian Masters Games : Discover Adelaide

Discover Adelaide

Adelaide. A City Designed For Life.

South Australia’s capital city, Adelaide, is a city designed for life and shaped by stories old and new. The first stories were created by the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains, the traditional owners of the land upon which the city of Adelaide sits.

Adelaide is a place thoughtfully and purposefully designed from the start by Colonel William Light, South Australia’s first Surveyor-General, with people’s wellbeing in mind. Light’s grid-like layout of wide streets, tree-lined terraces and abundant public squares – completely embraced by over 9.4 square kilometres of leafy Park Lands – created the world’s only ‘city in a park’ – a place both easy and inspiring to explore.

Widely accepted as Australia’s best boutique city, Adelaide is a cosmopolitan capital - friendly, contemporary and culturally vibrant, enjoying a mild Mediterranean climate and surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful beaches and world-renowned wine regions.

Just 15-minutes from Adelaide Airport, the city is also a perfect starting point to a more extensive Australian experience. Bookend your city stay with an adventure through South Australia’s picturesque regions – from the stunning natural, coastal stretches of the Fleurieu Peninsula, to the unspoilt wilderness of Kangaroo Island and the rugged landscape of the Flinders Ranges and beyond.

So, come stroll our streets, explore our laneways and wander through our Park Lands. Discover Adelaide through food, art, music, sports and architecture, and create your own stories in a city designed for life.
